Deadline Fever Grips the League as Blockbuster Trade Speculation Mounts

The NFL is rapidly approaching its November 10 trade deadline, leaving teams with less than a month to decide if they are buyers looking for immediate glory or sellers preparing for a long-term overhaul. While some rumors have already been shut down, such as the Los Angeles Chargers firmly denying any talks regarding trading star quarterback Justin Herbert despite their winless start, other names are beginning to circulate in earnest. As the window closes, several high-profile veterans and strategic assets could find themselves wearing different jerseys by mid-November.

In Dallas, the situation is precarious for wide receiver George Pickens and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. With the Cowboys struggling through a defensive crisis and sitting at two wins and three losses, owner Jerry Jones may be forced to evaluate whether keeping these looming free agents makes sense. Both players are slated to hit open markets next year, meaning the Cowboys might prefer to recoup value now rather than lose them for nothing in the spring if the season continues to slide southward.

On the defensive side of the ball, elite pass rushers are becoming prime targets for contenders seeking a final piece for a championship run. Arizona’s Josh Sweat remains a tantalizing option due to his lack of guaranteed money beyond this season, while veteran powerhouse Khalil Mack could offer shorter-term impact without as steep a price tag given his age. Even more shocking is the theoretical possibility involving T.J. Watt; although unthinkable under normal circumstances, Pittsburgh’s desire for a future franchise quarterback could lead them to treat Watt as a massive trade chip to secure draft capital for a total reset.

Offensively, those needing backfield help should keep an eye on Tennessee’s Tony Pollard. Currently playing for a winless Titans squad in what appears to be a walk year, Pollard remains a highly productive dual threat with five consecutive seasons of over 1,000 rushing yards. For a contender lacking stability at running back, acquiring Pollard would represent a low-risk move requiring only his prorated base salary while adding proven versatility to an offense heading into December football.
