Bauers Becomes Hero as Milwaukee Pushes Dodgers to the Edge

Jake Bauers delivered a performance for the ages on Monday night, putting the Milwaukee Brewers just one victory away from their first World Series appearance in 44 years. While several players contributed to the gritty win in Game Two of the NLCS, it was Bauers who stole the spotlight with two massive sequences that dismantled the Los Angeles pitching staff. Early on, he wore down Yoshinobu Yamamoto with a grueling 12-pitch walk followed by a two-run single. However, he saved his best for later, battling through an 11-pitch war with Blake Snell in the seventh inning before launching a towering two-run home run into the right field seats at Dodger Stadium.

The game began with an immediate spark when 22 year old sensation Jackson Chourio crushed a fastball over the wall on the very first pitch of the contest. That early lead provided plenty of confidence for Robert Gasser, whose composure kept the Brewers in the fight. Though Gasser lacked high strikeout numbers, he utilized stellar defensive support and precise location to navigate five scoreless innings against a potent Dodgers lineup. His efficiency set a high bar, matching an equally dominant start from Snell, who retired 14 consecutive batters during his tenure on the mound.

Things grew tense in the sixth inning when relief pitcher Abner Uribe struggled to find the zone, eventually surrendering a two-run double to Will Smith that briefly handed momentum back to Los Angeles. The crowd erupted as it seemed the Dodgers were poised to take control, but DL Hall stepped in under immense pressure to deliver two critical strikeouts that prevented further damage. This bullpen stand ensured that when Bauers finally connected with that decisive blast in the seventh, there was no room for a Dodger comeback.

Beyond the fireworks from Bauers and Chourio, Garrett Mitchell added another home run and played key defense in center field to seal Gasser’s outing. As they head into the remainder of the series, Milwaukee finds itself in a commanding position. Having weathered a storm against elite arms like Yamamoto and Snell, the Brewers now need only one more win across four opportunities to secure their place on baseball’s biggest stage.
