Updated 22 October 2026. Palantir (PLTR) closed at $201.72 on Wednesday 21 October, up $9.12 or 4.74 percent, its first close above $200 since the 16 October selloff, and was $198.97 in premarket trading at 09:04 ET on Thursday, down 1.36 percent (StockAnalysis). Wednesday’s move came as Citi raised its target to $250 from $245 with a Buy rating in a Q3 preview and the AI trade returned on SpaceX’s results, while ARK Invest sold Palantir for a third straight session and insiders have sold about $98 million of stock in 90 days (MoneyCheck, Benzinga). Q3 results are confirmed for Monday 2 November after the close. Verdict: the stock has retraced the whole of the 16 October drop in three sessions; the premarket dip is the Nasdaq’s reaction to Tesla, IBM and Lam Research, not a Palantir story. Reference levels: $184 below, $213 above.

Guidance from the Q2 release: revenue $2.160-$2.164 billion and adjusted operating income $1.292-$1.296 billion. MarketBeat consensus is $2.18 billion of revenue and $0.41 of EPS; Zacks is at $0.42 (MarketBeat, Plus500).
- Technicals: the 50-day moving average is about $183.73 and the 200-day $153.14; the stock bounced from the 50-day on the weekly chart last week (MoneyCheck).
- The week’s other stories: the Knox Systems partnership for FedRAMP and Impact Level 5 deployments, announced Monday 19 October with no financial terms, and HSBC Asset Management’s review of Palantir’s place in its roughly $9 billion Islamic Global Equity Index fund, reported Tuesday 20 October (24/7 Wall St, Financial Times via Investing.com).
Three sessions, one round trip
Palantir fell 7.2 percent to $186.03 on Friday 16 October. It then rose 4.4 percent on Monday on the Knox partnership, covered in Tuesday’s Palantir page, slipped 0.8 percent on Tuesday on the HSBC review, covered in Wednesday’s page, and added 4.74 percent on Wednesday to close at $201.72, above where it stood before the Friday drop. Nothing in Palantir’s own numbers changed in those three days. What changed was the tape around it: SpaceX’s 7.8 percent results-day jump pulled the AI complex higher on Wednesday, and Citi’s preview gave the move a Palantir-specific headline.
The premarket dip to $198.97 is the same mechanism in reverse. Tesla is down about 3.7 percent before the open after its Q3 call pushed its robotaxi and Optimus timelines into 2027, IBM and Lam Research fell after hours, and the Nasdaq 100 is set to open lower. A high-beta AI name usually gives back more than the index on such mornings, and a 1.4 percent dip is less than that pattern would imply. For how the Tesla print is being read, see our Tesla results page.
Citi at $250 versus the sellers at $200
Citi’s raise is the sixth target change in two weeks and the second to $250. The bulls, Barclays $265, Baird $250, Citi $250 and Mizuho $245, now sit 23-33 percent above the premarket price; the consensus averages, $203.28 at MarketBeat and $206.43 at StockAnalysis, sit 2-4 percent above it. That gap is the argument. The bulls are underwriting another beat-and-raise on 2 November against guidance of $2.160-$2.164 billion; the average analyst thinks the stock already prices one.
The people selling are not analysts. ARK has trimmed on each of the last three sessions, about $9.6 million in total, which is a rebalancing against a $484.74 billion market cap rather than a view. Insider sales of $97.9 million over 90 days are larger but mostly pre-arranged under 10b5-1 plans adopted months before the current price. Neither flow moves a stock that trades tens of billions of dollars a week. Both are the kind of detail that gets read as a signal when a stock has run 90 percent from its 52-week low, as this one has. The longer-dated range is in our Palantir stock prediction.
Palantir into the 2 November print: bull, base and bear
| Scenario | PLTR | What has to happen | Anchor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bear | $184 | The Nasdaq’s post-earnings selling broadens from Tesla and the semis into AI software, and the stock retests the level it bounced from last week. | The 50-day moving average at about $183.73 (MoneyCheck), below the $186.03 close of 16 October. About 7.5 percent below the premarket price. |
| Base | $190-$203 | The stock trades Wednesday’s range into the earnings countdown with no new target changes or index news. | Wednesday’s $189.88 low to the $202.55 high, bracketing the $203.28 MarketBeat consensus target (StockAnalysis, MarketBeat). |
| Bull | $213 | The AI tape steadies and the pre-earnings run that took the stock to a record in early October resumes ahead of 2 November. | The $212.94 52-week high (StockAnalysis). About 7 percent above the premarket price; still well below Goldman’s $230 and Citi’s $250. |
The bear case sits below the premarket price. These are reference levels measured from the verified StockAnalysis quotes, not forecasts.
What to watch
- The open: whether $200 holds on the first day above it since the selloff, with the Nasdaq 100 lower on Tesla, IBM and Lam Research.
- HSBC: a decision on the Islamic fund holding, or a request to S&P to revisit the Shariah screen.
- ARK’s daily trade file: a fourth day of selling, or a pause, after Wednesday’s small 3,194-share trim.
- 2 November: the Q3 print and the Q4 guide, against $2.160-$2.164 billion of guided revenue and a $2.18 billion consensus.
Quick take: Palantir closed at $201.72, up 4.74 percent, as Citi went to $250 and the AI trade returned on SpaceX’s print, then slipped to $198.97 premarket with the Nasdaq lower after Tesla. ARK and insiders are selling small amounts into a stock 90 percent above its 52-week low, with Q3 confirmed for 2 November. Expect $190-$203. A broader AI software selloff opens $184. A resumed pre-earnings run opens $213.
